The Reason For Everything

Do you remember? Do you know where you were? It was a Monday afternoon. I had given up on ever getting right with God. I had popped in another pornographic tape. As I was watching it, Jesus spoke to my heart and said "I will forgive your sins." I said thank you. The grip that the pornography and sex had on me was broken that day. I remember that day 19 years ago.
I remember being so conscious of God's power to save from sin. So filled with the reality of a new life. I remember now.
As the church becomes more and more fractured over politics and morality, let us always remember the words of the apostle Paul: "Christ Jesus came into world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." 1 Tim 1:15
Before we criticize and condemn others, lets remember where God has brought us from.

I agree that the church should show compassion for people tangled in a web of deception, and that we should be slow to ostracize the infant convert. But I also feel (notice I said feel) that the church has an obligation to be steadfast in Christ’s commands and God’s absolute truths. We have neglected this responsibility thus allowing the principles of man to coexist with the absolutes of God causing disease in the church and hypocrisy in the worldview. My personal experience is that the world expects the church to be a community of love with clear convictions and when they see us laying paralyzed in a dark corner it cause their hearts to melt with anger and disgust. Like it or not the world needs the church to shine. To shine with clear convictions standing compassionately on the timeless, life giving, truths of Yahweh as taught by Jesus. We must be able to stand on those truths and to shine a clear light into the darkness. We must be able to identify sin, communicate its debilitating effects, and encourage people to eradicate it or (like cancer) it will kill every cell of humanity.
